What Is As-Built Verification?

As-built verification compares the actual, current state of a construction site against the design surface or design model. The output is a deviation map showing where the work in place is high, low, or out of position relative to design. The map is used to verify contractor work, support pay applications, document conformance, and identify areas that need rework before the next phase.

The traditional method is surveyor-and-rod, which is slow and limited to spot checks. Aerial as-built verification produces a continuous deviation map of the entire site in a fraction of the time, and at lower cost than full-time survey crews.

When To Use It

  • Subgrade and rough grading. Verify that subgrade elevation matches design before base or paving goes down. Catch errors before they are buried.

  • Earthwork pay applications. Subcontractors get paid based on work in place. Deviation maps show quantities completed and support accurate payment.

  • Pile and structural verification. Confirm that pile locations, footings, and structural elements are in the correct position before vertical construction proceeds.

  • Dispute documentation. When contractor and owner disagree on whether work is in conformance, an as-built deviation map provides a third-party record.

Starting at $950 per survey for sites up to 5 acres. Larger sites, multiple phases, and recurring monthly verification are quoted based on acreage and complexity. The deliverable is the deviation map, cut-fill report, and 3D comparison.

How quickly can you deliver?

Standard delivery is 3-5 business days from the day of flight. Rush delivery (24-48 hours) is available for time-sensitive pay applications or phase transitions.

Can you compare against a design surface from my engineer?

Yes. We accept design surfaces in LandXML, GeoTIFF, DWG with contours, or any standard civil/survey format. We register the design to the same coordinate system as the actual surface and compute the deviation.
